Day 3 - Labadee, Haiti

Labadee, Haiti is a private peninsula owned by the Cruise Company.  The port of call was an extension of the cruise ship, so we didn't have to pay for any meals there.  Anyway, we sailed into the port about 8:00 in the morning.  The island seems to be a large, beautiful island.  The local fishermen were just sailing out as we were sailing in.

We Hung out on a beautiful beach during the morning.  We sent snorkeling, and though the water was a little shallow and murky, it felt great to be in the water.

We went for a walk and found an old stone fort.

After lunch, we went on a Haitian Culture tour.  We took a boat over to another part of the island.  There we were split into two groups.  We were supposed to go up on the hill to see some of the culture and the way people live.  We missed the first group, and by the time we finished talking to some of the artisans we also missed the second tour.  So we hung went swimming and enjoyed the rain and the private nature of that beach.

We found a tree where the roots just surround a big rock, collecting water and nutrients from the outside of the rock.

That night we went to a show called Ocean Area. The production had Olympic qualtity diving, dancing and gymnastics.  It was wonderful.  Sorry about no pictures, but I do have a youtube link below of part of the production.
